I began my soap-making journey in 2012 on a whim. I love making things from scratch, and soaping just called to me. My first attempt was done in full-on hazmat gear, as I was convinced the water mixture was going to explode as soon as I added the lye to dissolve. It didn’t. It also didn’t release the super-toxic gas I had imagined. Since then, we have gotten dairy goats and I make a wonderfully cleansing goat milk soap (still in safety gear, but not the full hazmat suit). Thankfully, when a soap is made well, and ours is, all the lye chemically reacts with the oils and butters in a reaction called saponification and there is no residual lye left in the bar we use on our skin.
I try and source as many local ingredients as feasible, and I love experimenting with new recipes and techniques, but continue to use only high quality, natural, and sustainable ingredients.
We are proud to be members of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild, and make a variety of soaps (most of them with our own goat milk). Please scroll down to see what we have available to purchase!
